In August of 2011, I went to my doctor and he told me I had to lose weight. I weighted 305 pounds and my blood pressure was very high. I started to lose on my own and then in January of 2012 I decided to get a personal trainer for three months. Since then, with working out and following the nutrition that my trainer provided for me, I have lost 70 pounds!
Thanks to my trainers for all the help they give me. I will continue to work on getting to my goal I have set for myself with the help form the great staff here at Fit For You!

I have more energy and I can touch my toes for the first time in 30 years

I came to Fit For You because I had severe pain from my neck all the way down to my leg. I felt as I was losing my mobility. I have had four Rotator Cuff operations on my right shoulder leaving me with full rotation but no strength from the shoulder upward. I tried massage therapy and that had helped a bit. I tried Chiropractic doctor but I had only received limited, short-term success. I was looking for something that would offer me a better way of living.

My personal trainer sat me down and we developed goals for our workouts. At this point all I was looking for was some stretching and developing an exercise routine that would maintain me as I progressed in my “senior” years. She not only developed an exercise program for me including stretching exercises, she developed a nutrition program for me, and together we developed some realistic goals that I felt were achievable. She also encouraged me to set a few goals that I thought might be out of reach and see where we would end up.

February 19th, 2012 I fell on the ice and tore the quadriceps muscles in both knees. I spent four days in the hospital and 4 weeks in a nursing home. This set my exercise program back, but because I went into my fall with such good strength I was able to recover much faster. My personal trainer was able to reconfigure my exercise program to develop my upper body strength while my knees healed.

Today I have reached most of my goals. I am in much better physical condition. The nutrition has changed the whole way I look at food and life. I have lost about 25 lbs. I am down two pants sizes. I have more energy and I can touch my toes for the first time in 30 years. I have improved not only physically, but also mentally, and spiritually as well. I have a new enthusiasm for life that I received from Fit For You!

Over the years I have tried many different diets and video workout tapes with limited results. To add to this dilemma, I am aging and having more trouble taking off the weight. A friend told me about her positive experience at Fit for You and talked with me about the importance of building muscle as the body ages. My initial reason for starting at Fit For You, unlike all my other attempts to look better in the past, was actually for my health. I have been with Fit For You since October, 2011 and my life has changed. Not only I have lost weight and inches, my confidence, self-esteem, energy level, and overall mood has increased. Although it is tough for me to identify one exercise I like the best, I like the creative approach that one of the personal trainers provides in all of his workouts. I have never had the same work out in the past 6 months, which makes it fun each time.

After struggling with various diets throughout the years I decided to have Bariatric Surgery in December 2011. Fit For You offers a free 3 month membership to all post-op patients. I have to admit I was reluctant to try the gym because I thought it was for “body builders”…that is, until I heard Vern speak at one of the post-op monthly meetings. My husband and I scheduled a meeting with Michele and after talking with her I decided to sign up with trainers twice a week. I meet with my personal trainers and really do enjoy it! They know what I’m capable of and push me further that I ever would on my own. I’ve come to realize that trainers aren’t just for the rich and famous…They are for anyone who is serious about getting in shape.
My only regret is that I didn’t discover Fit For You year ago! The staff really does care about you, your nutrition, and your future.

I lost 100 pounds!!!!

I joined Fit For You in January, 2008. 245 was my start weight. Now, April 2012, I am 145. I still can’t believe I’ve lost 100 pounds. There have been blood, sweat, and tears shed…but I’ve finally become me. I’m most proud that no surgery was required.
People keep asking me what the keys to my success have been. I would say by far that having a personal trainer has made the difference. My first trainer reassured me and was the first to believe in me. My next trainer has been my nutrition guru. I’m not sure I’ve eaten anything he hasn’t pre-approved in months. He’s pushed me past my limits in demanding workouts. My other trainer, has helped me more than I could ever explain. His off handed comment “It’s YOUR body” has changed my life.
Secondly, I would say that food journals are a must for accountability. You must prepare your food and plan in advance. You can’t out-train a bad diet. I see food as fuel and nourishment.
Lastly, I needed a team behind me, cheering and pushing me on. With the trainers, the staff at Fit For You, and all the great friends and supportive members at the gym, I have so many people behind me. I’m in a state of gratitude and only want to give back to those that have helped me. I’ve been inspired and motivated by so many, I hope I can return that favor.

I’ve lost 25 lbs and 22 1/2 inches!!!!

I have always been self-conscious about my body. I was never comfortable wearing t-shirts, shorts, or a bathing suit. I’d hide under baggy pants and sweatshirts. I first started coming to Fit For You in September of 2011 and I had no idea what I was doing. I had never been to a gym before and I was already self-conscious, so how was I supposed to work out in front of people? Everyone at Fit For You ICE were so welcoming and made it easy for me to work out without feeling uncomfortable. However, there was still a problem; I didn’t know where to begin! The variety of machines scared me because I didn’t know how to use them. My mom suggested that I look into personal training, but I didn’t feel I was capable of dedicating myself to anything so I thought that it would be pointless. I’d just give up again! I was introduced to my personal trainer and she was beyond nice and comforting. I figured personal training couldn’t be that hard with a trainer who was that nice. So, I signed up for three months. After my first work out, I couldn’t even move. I wanted to give up, but my personal trainer pushed me. She didn’t let me give up, she genuinely cared about getting me healthy and making me feel better about myself. I started out at 128lbs and have lost a total of 25lbs and 22.5 inches!! I am even training for the Fit For You Figure and Bodybuilding Competition coming up in April. I’m not self-conscious anymore and my self-esteem and confidence have never been higher! None of this would have EVER been possible if it wasn’t for my personal trainer and her determination to make others succeed.

As a former College Football player and U.S. Marine physical fitness was not only a passion, but a way of life that I had lost. I had become complacent in my diet and exercise to the point that it was affecting my attitude, energy, and overall performance at work and home. As a business owner I became focused and overwhelmed by the day to day responsibilities of running a business. I had lost sight of that which should be the priority. That is where the team at Fit For You has made all the difference in the world. I have been to 100 different gyms over the years and none have provided me with the atmosphere like Fit For You. Don’t get me wrong I basically knew what to do, and how to do it, but lacked the motivation, support, and desire. The team at Fit For You really makes you feel welcome; they are approachable for information and truly have the client’s best interest at heart; as are the other members I see every morning. I joined Fit For You a little over a year ago. I was pregnant with my second child and signed up for a 2 year commitment because I knew after having the baby I wanted a personal trainer. I’ve always been a yoyo and fad dieter but if I wanted the weight to stay off I needed to make a lifestyle change. And with the help of my trainers, dedication, and lots of self discipline it is possible to lose the weight the right way and keep it off. My experience has been great, everyone is so helpful and encouraging. My trainer has been motivating and knowledgeable and pushes my when I need it! I’ve lost 34 pounds and I’m not done yet! I feel great!

I have been a very happy customer of Fit For You Health Club for many years.  My original goal when joining Fit For You was to compete in my first bodybuilding show in 1998.  I thought at that time that Fit For You was exclusively for bodybuilders, but I was way off.  Over the years I have been able to observe the results of many, from weight loss to physical therapy.  Bodybuilding actually seems to be just a small part of what the Fit For You team can accomplish.

I have personally accomplished two bodybuilding competitions, three half marathons, The Delmac (biking from Lansing to Mackinaw) and currently I am preparing for the 2012 Grand Traverse figure competition.

I could have never accomplished all this without my Fit For You success coach, offering advice, encouragement, knowledge and accountability.  I have made my success coach part of my budget.

I spent 15 years struggling with losing and gaining weight over and over.  I wished I knew then what I know now.  Trainers make a difference!  My trainers Sara, Jon, Coty and the other Weight Loss Challenge trainers are the difference between failure and success.  I saw trainers as a luxury I couldn’t afford, now I see trainers as a necessity! Sure I’ve had to move the money in the budget around, but the confidence, strength, weight loss and friends I’ve gained are worth it!  Thanks Fit For You Staff!  My goals are as important to you as they are to me!
